Nestled amongst the quiet tranquility in the heart of the Wairarapa, North of Wellington lays the family vineyard of Borthwick Estate. Established in 1996 adhering to the traditional values of winemaking, the 27 hectares of vines meld easily into a landscape that is exceedingly sought after. The peaceful surroundings of the riverside vineyard are conducive to excellent grape growing conditions.
The stony, free draining alluvial soils and special micro climate allow the grapes to grow in harmony in their environment, revelling in the serenity and uniqueness of their surroundings. The renowned quality of the grapes grown here is as much in part to the terroir of the vineyard as it is the winemaking skill of founder Paddy Borthwick.

BORTHWICK PINOT NOIR
Traditional Burgundian techniques and minimal handling has produced a Pinot Noir with an intense bouquet of cherries and plums. Flavours of tobacco and spice complement a rich silky palate with a purity of fruit and finely integrated tannin structure. This wine displays the poetic characteristics of the fickle and gratifying variety Pinot Noir.
